Chairman's Message

Chairman's Message

Mr. Zamane Abdul Rahman
Chair of AHWP

I WOULD LIKE TO TAKE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO THANK YOU FOR GIVING ME THE VOTE OF CONFIDENCE TO TAKE UP THE LEADERSHIP ROLE OF THE AHWP.

WITH THIS ROLE, I HOPE TO CONTINUE ON THE EFFORTS TO ACHIEVE THE GOALS OF AHWP, BY IMPLEMENTING AND WORKING CLOSELY WITH THE NEW OFFICE BEARERS TO CONTINUE TO CARRY OUT THE WONDERFUL AND IMPRESSIVE WORK THAT HAS ALREADY BEEN DONE BY THE LAST TERM.

I ALSO WOULD LIKE TO THANK THE OUTGOING CHAIR, DR. HEE-KYO JEONG, WHOSE TENURE FOR THE PAST 3 YEARS HAS PROVIDED US WITH STRONG LEADERSHIP IN PAVING THE WAY FOR REGULATORY HARMONIZATION.

I VIEW OF THAT, DURING MY 3 YEAR STINT, I WILL BE FULLY FOCUSED AND DEVOTED ON EXPANDING THE HARMONIZATION AND CONVERGENCE EFFORTS, BY ACTIVELY SUPPORTING THE AHWP’S OPERATION AS WELL AS THE AHWP TECHNICAL COMMITTEE.

WE ARE A UNIQUE ORGANIZATION, IN WHICH, BOTH REGULATORS AND INDUSTRY ARE INVOLVED AND WORK HAND IN HAND TO REACH THE GOALS OF REGULATORY CONVERGENCE. THIS CAN BE SEEN IN OUR WORK IN DEVELOPING THE AHWP PLAYBOOK AND GUIDANCE DOCUMENTS WHICH ARE BASED ON THE DOCUMENTS FROM ORGANIZATIONS SUCH AS THE IMDRF. THE NEXT STEP IN OUR EFFORTS IS TO ADOPT AND IMPLEMENT THESE DOCUMENTS WITHIN OUR MEMBER COUNTRIES SO THAT CONVERGENCE CAN BE ACHIEVED.

THIS IS ALSO WHERE OUR CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAMME COMES IN, IN WHICH I HOPE THERE WILL BE MORE OF. ALSO, WE SHOULD TAKE INTO ACCOUNT THE INPUTS GIVEN DURING OUR SESSIONS TO MAKE FURTHER IMPROVEMENTS TO OUR PROGRAMME AS WELL AS THE AHWP PLAYBOOK TRAININGS.

IN ADDITION TO THAT, I ALSO BELIEVE THAT WE HAVE TO FOSTER STRONGER RELATIONS WITH OTHER ORGANIZATIONS, WHICH IN HAND WILL FACILITATE THE COLLABORATION EFFORTS ACROSS THE GLOBE AND FURTHER EXPAND THE GLOBAL ROLE OF THE AHWP.

LAST BUT NOT LEAST, I BELIEVE THAT THE MEMBER ECONOMIES PROMINENT PARTICIPATION AND COOPERATION IN AHWP ACTIVITIES WILL IN TURN BE AN IMPORTANT DRIVING FORCE FOR THE ADVANCEMENT OF ALL AHWP MEMBERS.
THANK YOU
Mr. Zamane Abdul Rahman
Chair of AHWP
